Goals - 2
This will be my first (and only) post in English for a while, since I feel that I can't be precise enough with the amount of Japanese that I have learned so far.
Previous Goals:
Improve fluency, rhythm, flow in my speech (like eliminating strange pauses during speech)
Activities
Go to office hours at least once every week
Practice creating sentences using the textbook exercises for ten minutes every day
Attend the language table every week
Watch an episode of anime daily
Reflection:
I've gone to office hours pretty often, except during midterm week when things started getting crazy. On some weeks though, I've gone to more than one, so I think it roughly evens out. I've also attended the language table almost every week and on balance, I watch more than an episode of anime per day.
I've been negligent in making sentences using the textbook exercises (besides doing the homework and reading the textbook before class), but I realize that it's somewhat unnatural and not very helpful in the end. Instead I've been trying to do mental review checks throughout my day and it's been working much better.
Overall, I feel like the most important thing that I've gained through all of this is confidence in my speaking abilities. I don't feel nearly as nervous as I used to when speaking, and I would like to keep improving on that.
New Goals:

Learn more Kanji/Vocab

Attend the language table
Watch an episode of anime daily
Review/Learn Kanji for thirty minutes every day

Recently I've been getting a lot of songs for my playlists from anime, but many of them aren't actually available on Itunes. I've finally found a way to actually get them onto my Iphone. The above video is the ending to one of the many anime that I'm following this season. Even though it's not one of my favorite animes, they seem to be doing a great job in picking opening/ending themes.

こんばんは!
はじめまして. わたしは Lo Jensen です. いちねんせいです.
I was in born in Thailand, but I lived in Singapore during my pre-schooling years. There, I was exposed to large amounts of Japanese culture. After I moved to the United States when I was five, I lost touch with it for quite some time until recently, when I was reintroduced by some of my friends.
From memories of my childhood like Doraemon and Pokemon to parts of the culture that I was experiencing for the first time, I began to discover and re-discover the culture. The name of this blog, Red Seal Ships, comes from the historical merchant ships licensed by the Tokugawa Shogunate to trade with Southeast Asia, frequently bringing elements of Japanese culture along the way. This reflects my own experiences and heritage.
In addition to blogging about my Japanese learning, I am also on a quest to find the best Asian restaurants in Princeton, and hopefully that will be helpful to others too.
